How to Make Kinder Cookies
1. Prepare the Cookie Dough
- In a large mixing bowl, whisk together the melted butter and granulated sugar with a hand/balloon whisk until smooth and combined.
- Add the egg and vanilla extract, whisking until fully incorporated.
- Then add in the flour, cornflour, bicarbonate of soda, baking powder, and salt, and fold them in to form a dough.
- Fold in the Kinder chocolate chunks, ensuring they’re evenly distributed throughout the dough.
2. Shape and Chill the Cookies
- Divide the dough into 9 equal portions (about 65g each) and roll them into balls.
- Place the dough balls on a large baking tray or cookie sheet and chill in the fridge for at least 2 hours. This step helps prevent the cookies from spreading too much during baking.
3. Bake the Cookies
- Preheat your oven to 180°C (160°C fan) / 350°F.
- Bake the cookies for 12-14 minutes, or until the edges are just set and the centers are soft. They will firm up as they cool, so don’t overbake!
- Allow the cookies to cool completely on the tray before decorating with buttercream.
4. Make the Kinder Buttercream Icing
- In a large bowl, beat the softened butter until smooth and creamy.
- Gradually add the icing sugar, beating until light and fluffy.
- Mix in the melted and slightly cooled Kinder chocolate until fully incorporated.
5. Decorate the Cookies
- Pipe or spread the Kinder buttercream onto the cooled cookies.
- For an extra touch, decorate with pieces of Kinder chocolate or a drizzle of melted Kinder.
Tips for Perfect Kinder Cookies
- Chill the Dough: Don’t skip the chilling step! It helps keep the cookies thick.
- Kinder Buttercream: Make sure the melted Kinder chocolate is cool before adding it to the buttercream to avoid melting the icing.
- Storage: Store these cookies in an airtight container at room temperature for up to 3 days, or in the fridge for up to a week (best eaten at room temperature).
