Why You’ll Love These Air Fryer Biscoff Apple Crumbles

If you’re a fan of cozy desserts, these air fryer Biscoff apple crumbles will become your new favourite. With tender, cinnamon-spiced apples, gooey cookie butter, and a golden, buttery crumble topping, it’s the ultimate comfort dessert.

This dessert is perfect for relaxing evenings or as a quick after dinner dessert. Thanks to the air fryer, they’re super easy to make and ready in just 35 minutes.

What Makes This Recipe Special?

The combination of Biscoff spread (cookie butter/speculoos) and apples is truly unmatched. The warm, spiced flavour of the cookie butter pairs perfectly with the cinnamon-coated apples, creating a dessert that’s both nostalgic and indulgent.

Plus, this recipe is featured in my latest book, Fitwaffle’s Easy Air Fryer, which you can find on Amazon. It’s packed with easy air fryer recipes that make cooking fun and effortless.

Equipment You’ll Need

To make this recipe, you’ll need:

  • Air fryer – For even cooking and a perfectly crisp crumble topping.  I used a Tower 11L Air Fryer, it’s my favourite Air Fryer.
  • 6cm x 6cm (2½ in x 2½ in) ramekins – Air fryer-safe ramekins are ideal for individual portions.
  • Mixing bowls – One for the filling and one for the topping.

Why Air Fryers Are Perfect for This Recipe

  1. Quick Cooking: The air fryer cooks the crumble faster than a traditional oven.
  2. Even Heat Distribution: Ensures the apples soften while the topping crisps perfectly.
  3. Energy Efficient: Air fryers use less energy, making them a more sustainable choice.
  4. Perfect Portions: Individual ramekins fit easily into the air fryer, making portioning simple.

Ingredients for Air Fryer Biscoff Apple Crumbles

For the Filling:

  • 15 g granulated sugar (1 tbsp)
  • ¼ tsp ground cinnamon
  • 1 large apple (peeled, cored, and cubed)
  • 20 g Lotus Biscoff spread (cookie butter/speculoos) (1½ tbsp) + extra to drizzle (optional)

For the Topping:

  • 40 g plain flour (4½ tbsp all-purpose flour)
  • 40 g granulated sugar (3 tbsp)
  • 35 g salted or unsalted butter (cold and cubed, 1.25 oz)

How to Make Air Fryer Biscoff Apple Crumbles

Step 1: Preheat the Air Fryer

Set your air fryer to 160˚C (325˚F) while you prepare the filling and topping.

Step 2: Prepare the Filling

In a small bowl, mix the granulated sugar and cinnamon. Add the cubed apple and toss until evenly coated in the mixture.

Step 3: Make the Topping

In another small bowl, combine the flour, granulated sugar, and cubed butter. Use your fingertips to rub the butter into the dry ingredients until it forms a crumbly texture.

Step 4: Assemble the Crumble

Scoop the apple filling into the ramekins. Dollop Biscoff spread over the apples, then sprinkle the crumble topping evenly over each ramekin.

Step 5: Air Fry the Crumbles

Place the ramekins in your air fryer and cook for 20–25 minutes, or until the topping is golden brown and the apples are tender.

Step 6: Let Them Cool

Once cooked, leave the crumbles to cool for a few minutes. They’ll be very hot straight out of the air fryer, so give them time to cool slightly before serving.

Step 7: Decorate and Serve

For extra flavour, drizzle melted Biscoff spread over the top of each crumble. Serve warm and enjoy!

Why This Recipe is Perfect for Any Occasion

These air fryer Biscoff apple crumbles are versatile enough to enjoy any time. Whether you’re cozying up on a rainy day or looking for a quick dessert after dinner, this recipe is sure to satisfy.

The individual ramekins make it perfect for single servings, but you can easily double or triple the recipe if you’re feeding a crowd.

Tips for the Best Apple Crumble

  1. Choose the Right Apple: Granny Smith apples work best for their tart flavour and firm texture, but most apples will taste great.
  2. Use Cold Butter: Cold butter creates a crisp, crumbly topping.
  3. Don’t Overfill the Ramekins: Leave a little space at the top to prevent the crumble from spilling over.
  4. Reheat for Freshness: If you’re enjoying leftovers, pop the ramekins back in the air fryer for a few minutes to re-crisp the topping and warm the apple.
  5. Experiment with Fruits: Swap apples for pears, peaches, or mixed berries for a fun twist.

Bonus Tip: Make Peach Crumble

If you love the flavours of this recipe, try swapping the apple for fresh peaches. The sweetness of peaches pairs beautifully with the Biscoff spread for a summery take on this classic dessert.

Serving Suggestions

This crumble is delicious on its own, but you can elevate it even further with these serving ideas:

  • With Ice Cream: A scoop of vanilla ice cream adds a creamy contrast to the warm crumble.
  • With Whipped Cream: Light and fluffy whipped cream balances the rich flavours.
  • With Caramel Sauce: Drizzle caramel sauce over the crumble for an extra indulgent touch.
